We are the world (of Bloggers!)

Celebrating Bloggers blog hop

I have often been accused of being optimistic—of tiresomely, always looking on the bright side of things. But this is one time when I think I am not misplaced in saying that if it were not for the amazing online universe of bloggers, I would not have found my voice. Within a few days of my debut novel, going live on Amazon, I approached a young blogger based in my home city of Bombay to review my book. While he was not able to take on the request just then, as full up as most book reviewers normally are. He however came back to me with a request – how about writing a guest post for him? Asking a writer to write—is like showing a red flag to a bull! I jumped at the opportunity, and overnight churned out my very first guest post on how a lot of western scifi is inspired by Indian mythology.  The post did phenomenally well, going onto become one of the most trafficked ever on the site. It also sparked off a strong friendship. In many ways I owe my coming of age as a writer to the support of this blogger and those in the next few months, who supported me in my fledgling days as I tentatively found my voice and navigated the shark-waters of Indie publishing. Soon these friends on twitter and Facebook in particular began to take on larger than virtual forms in my head. Each of them had a distinct personality, and seemed much more real in many ways than those who I encountered my daily life Cue -- online Geek, that I am! I was amazed to find how open many of them were in sharing ups& downs, joys & sorrows, births & weddings, hear-breaks & new love. Wow! It was better than reality TV, for it was real, I realised this was my true second life. Much more interesting than that online world that I had once-upon-a-time been part of! I am still constantly amazed by the level of energy & go-get-them that so many of you—my fellow bloggers around the world have. You live each day as if it were your last, packing so much into each multi-tasking–minute that it sometimes makes my head whirl with the variety of activities on display; But hearing from you and following you always lifts my spirits and  restores my good humor particularly when I am having a challenging day! It is no surprise that many of  you are female heheh! I hence dedicate this post to you my fellow blogger who is the true embodiment of the modern-super-can-have-it-all, creative, entrepreneurial, achievers.
